The Klostein Stereoscope - A XMMS StereoScope (C) Sunday, February 3rd 2007 - Dennis Schulmeister dennis -at- windows3.de This is free software. You can use it according to the terms of the GPL 2 or any later version (of your choice). o Sunday February 11 2007 - des After some cross-reading on Wikipedia I decided to not only do a stereo- scope but also a number of other plugins. The first working plugin is a goniometer. Unfortunatly CPU usage is a bit high. On my 2 GHz singe processor machine it raises up to 30%. At the moment I don't know how to fix this (if at all). o Saturday February 10 2007 - des A protoype is working which was quite some work. Unfortunatly the graph is far from precise which is why I call it a prototype. The next thing will be fine tuning the formulas for a more accurate display. o Friday February 09 2007 - des Today was a good day. I finaly made the switch from GTK to SDL. Thus I nearly rewrote the whole plugin. Fortunatly I didn't get too far with GTK. (Only a window with the logo was implemented so far). Now the real idea can be implemented: Displaying a Stereoscope. Besides we need a new about box (maybe animated). o Thursday February 08 2007 - des Learned something new today. You can't use GTK+ 2 with xmms. It will always cause a segmentation fault. The reason I got none yesterday was that I didn't load the plugin with xmms. Instead I debuged it stand alone. Today means: Bye bye GTK (bye bye good looking about box), hello SDL. And it means #+@.X/Üy# xmms ... (ate the space bar of my keyboard) o Wednesday February 07 2007 - des Segmentation faults. You gotta love them, or not. After two days I found the reason why the plugin would crash after even the most basic GTK+ call. Somehow I linked it agains GTK 1.2 and GTK 2.0 and so things got mixed up a bit. Now it links only against GTK 2.0 et voilà ... Since GTK calls are so easy to handle in fact I parted with the glade thing. No big GUI requirements for a simple visualization. o Tuesday February 06 2007 - des Created a new about box with Glade3 since the old glade file was gone. The Scons script now finds and replaces the version number in that file. Somehow the (quite comprehensive) README is also gone so I'll have to rewrite that, too. After several segmentations faults I gave up with Glade. libglade always crashes either after glade_init() or glade_xml_new(). Seems like Glade and xmms don't play together well. o Monday February 04 2007 - des Successfully switched from GNU Autotools to Scons. (Autotools refused to compile with libglade2. Don't know why) At the moment the Scons build script is larger than the actual source file. :) o Sunday February 03 2007 - des Development officialy started today.
